On Thursday, April 29, 2010, Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski presided over the rededication of the Malcolm Gross Rose Garden Ceremony.  The rose garden is  currently undergoing  numerous improvements.  The improvement project includes installation of fully accessible walkways, new arbors, re-pointing entranceway steps and refurbishing many statues, memorials, as well as restoring original plaques and the bust of the former Mayor Malcolm W. Gross, for whom the gardens are named after.  Mayor Malcolm W. Gross played a prominent role in the development of the Rose Gardens as well as in the City of Allentown in the 1930's.
